Fortunately, the show is only 26 episodes and there’s only five episodes of filler, but I still thought it was a problem. Like there is clearly filler episodes in this show, and they are so tonally inconsistent with the rest of the show that it creates this really jarring aesthetic that really is detriment to the enjoyment of the show.

However my biggest problem with the show was that it was tone inconsistent the entire time. So well, in fact, I’m gonna go look it up and it required for my own purposes. In fact, I would say that the music in this anime was done very very well. I don’t know…I just really like those characters. I thought the English voice acting was pretty good, the art style is interesting, the action sequences were really well done, and the show was able to have things be mostly entertaining by making everything a stupid and ridiculous as possible. The supporting characters were also really cool and added it to the storyline, even though they were just as illogical and stupid as the rest of the show. I really liked Akise and the cop character that doesn’t turn into a psychotic diary user. And within this context, I think it really adds to the show’s depth.Īs for the rest of the show, I would say it is pretty good. And you could possibly explain all of the craziness of the show with this: I think the Yuki has some sort of Stockholm Syndrome and that Yuno psychologically manipulated him into becoming a killer, which explains his character inconsistencies throughout the show. And on that front, the show is really exciting. Yuki realizes that his dad, who is been a horrible person up to this point, killed his mom… And then proceeds to forgive him and laugh it off as it was some joke or something.īut the ways that the show deals with these things is so hilariously dumb that you kind of just want to see how much dumber the show really gets. Here are some examples of how illogical it can be: a cop falls in love with the terrorist for some reason and we’re all just kind of expected to accept that. And for that, the show succeeds at this wonderfully while being able to make both the characters in the story entertaining despite how incredulously stupid and illogical it all is. Specifically, the whole show itself is a really stupid situation that you watch become progressively more stupid and idiotic as it goes on. But the way that the show did it was so hilariously stupid it over the top that you kind of just want to see how it all ends up happening. The show, in fact, feels like it just kind of made stuff up as it wet.

However, it turns out that Yuno had played the game before in a previous alliteration of their time and had become a God and that universe and transport herself to our world to try and win again such that Yukiteru lives because in the previous one he died.Īs you can see, the show is pretty convoluted when it comes to its logic and it doesn’t even try to make sense of it. The main characters are Yukiteru (introvert) and Yuno (the crazy tsundere) and the whole show follows there exploits as they attempt to win the game over the course of the 26 episode adventure. And the goal was for all of these characters to fight to the death to become God. In fact, it was this in such overabundance that the show was mostly enjoyable ironically.Įssentially, the show was about these characters with diaries that could predict the future. However, it was super illogical, edgy, immature, and just mind-blowingly stupid.
